Supervision over the preferential provision of medicines monitors provision of medicines on preferential basis to population groups entitled to state social aid programs, as well as the program of seven high spending nosologies.
Since 2005 significant financial support has been provided from the federal budget to supply certain categories of citizens with medicines. These measures not only made vital medicines more affordable for many patients, but also dramatically improved life quality of patients with some of nosologies .
The program seriously affected the development of the pharmaceutical market as a whole. Improvement of the provision of medicines is being continued within the implementation of the Strategy of provision of medicines to the population of the Russian Federation until 2025.
Supervising over government authorities in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation implementation of their powers to provide certain categories of citizens with medicines, as well as to prevent inappropriate allocation of medicines for the treatment of seven high spending nosologies, Roszdravnadzor performs monitoring of preferential provision as well as on-site inspections of medical and pharmaceutical service at medical institutions and pharmacies, and of healthcare regulatory bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
