In accordance with the Decision of the Government Commission for Sustainable Development of the Russian Economy (protocol dated March 10, 2009 № 9) and the Order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation dated May 27, 2009 № 277н since May of 2009 Roszdravnadzor has performed a monthly monitoring of prices for and range of medicines in medical and pharmacy institutions. Affordability of medicines is one of the main priorities of the state policy regarding medicine provision.
Monitoring allows an objective evaluation of a situation on the pharmaceutical market and tracing negative trends. Monitoring results are published on the web-site of Roszdravnadzor on a monthly basis.
State regulation of prices for vital and essential medicines introduced in 2010 facilitated affordability of this category of medicines.
